While prepping for my own wedding, I found a lack of styling/consulting service in the bridal gown space. I felt that I wasn’t able to receive enough guidance in my gown search journey here- at the same time- there was not as many stylish international label selection available. The Ivory came about in hope to extend a curation of luxury labels for discerning brides, also, to provide a memorable experiential journey.

“Who is your female role model?”

Growing up, my mom has always been my role model. In juggling her business, and also in taking care of all family matters.. and 3 of us children.

“What is the best advice you have received?”

Work hard, but live in, and enjoy the present moment. Don’t expect some future circumstances to deliver you any more joy than this moment right here.

“Any advice women who are hustling hard in the workforce?”

Make your life about service and you will always find purpose.

"What inspired you to bring Vive to Singapore?"

We noticed a huge gap in the market for low impact, high intensity offerings and thought Vive was the perfect fit to the puzzle (plus points for the amazing lighting, sound system and look of the studio!) In addition, Pilates has traditionally been seen as more of a rehabilitative form of exercise, or has been prohibitively expensive, so we thought Vive could be the happy medium by offering a more athletic approach to using the reformer, and aligned the prices towards other group exercise studios so that we would be a more inclusive space.

"Describe a typical work day for you."

My alarm typically goes off around 6am on a good day before I head in to the studio to teach or work at the front desk and I’m usually there till the late afternoon. If I’m not teaching, I’m catching up on emails, refilling stuff around the studio or folding towels which has proven to be very therapeutic :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

"What is the most important quality a good leader must possess?"

Compassion. I think it’s so important to be understanding of everyone’s struggles or concerns and try to lighten their load - we’re all human after all, and everyone needs help at some stage whether they explicitly ask for it or not. My team definitely does this for me.

"As a female leader in the fitness space, what advice would you give other women who wish to start their own businesses?"

Just do it (after you’ve done all the necessary research of course!!). Know your strengths and weaknesses and own up to them - then don’t be afraid to ask for help where you need it. No one can do it all, not even Beyoncé :wink: Make sure you have the best support system and work alongside a team with the same values - something I am SO LUCKY to have!

"How does Flash Coffee play a part in your life? 😉"

I basically am useless before coffee so I’d say it is absolutely essential to my life!

"How did cheak come about?"

T/O: The idea for cheak really came about during covid, We (Tiff & I) were working out a lot and basically living in activewear. We struggled to find pieces that were fashionable, yet functional and affordable. Hence, we decided to start researching and developing our own line.

"What are your roles and how do you deconflict them?"

T: I handle the creative & marketing side of the business so this can be anything from photoshoots to brand and performance marketing. Our roles are quite different so there's rarely any conflict but in certain situations where there's overlap, we set a PIC for each project early on so its clear everyone involved.
O: I manage the design & development team at cheak and we work closely with Tiff and her marketing team to make sure each collection is an amazing one for our customers.

"Who are your female role models?"

T: Emily Oberg. A creative director who was able to build her passion project Sporty & Rich to a multimillion dollar brand Athleisure brand - so inspiring!
O: I’m a big fan of Chriselle Lim and her incredible journey as a fashion blogger to entrepreneur and investor.

"What advice would you give to young women who want to become entrepreneurs like you?"

T: Take it one step at a time. Set small and attainable goals to help you achieve your targets. It might seem daunting to get from 0-100 but keep moving forward and be consistent and you'll get there before you know it!
O: Be bold and give it a shot, there’s never a “perfect” time to start

"How does FLASH COFFEE fit into your lives? :wink:"

O: Let’s just say my day doesn’t start without coffee. I love the convenience and variety that FLASH COFFEE has to offer.
T: Agree with Oli! There's not a day when I don't have one (or two) coffees. I love that Flash is easily accessible and i can just order on the app and pick up on the way from class or to work.
